Definitely a challenging course but you learn alot. To do well on the exams, focus on her lectures, lecture notes, and past exam questions.
This is NOT a class where you can read the book and breeze through the exams, make sure you know the material extremely well because I've never seen harder multiple choice exams
Erickson is awesome. Like other people said, this class isn't as hard as it's said to be. Honestly, I didn't read the book once and got an A in the class. GO TO LECTURE, she tells you everything you need to know for tests, and do all the practice problems she gives you!! If you do all of that, you can do well in this class.
Again, Erickson is SO great- very approachable and lighthearted, easy to listen to most of the time.
This was one of the hardest classes that I've taken at UVA comparable with STAT 2120. Erickson is a good teacher but her lectures can be very boring. She doesn't use powerpoint or any technology at all so it's tough to follow. You have to go to class or you will really feel like you're lost. 90% of your grade is based on exams, which are really hard. Each exam increases in difficulty with the final being almost impossible (the average for my class was 74). I ended up with a B- but that took a lot of work. I wouldn't recommend this class but it's a pre-req for the Comm School so you got to do it.
