THE EASIEST CLASS AT UVA! Pretty much a guaranteed A if you show up and speak. However, you do have to complete reflections for the class and if they are late, your grade will be deducted. Also, you must complete 12 hours of community service at a school, which I thought was fun. I would not recommend this class for anyone that is afraid of sharing their issues on topics like race, culture, people with disabilities, or sexuality. Also, Prof. Covert is very fun and you will love his jokes. Be open-minded and have a positive attitude or face being miserable for a whole semester in this class.
Yes, this is an easy class, but you get so much out of the course. I agree that you shouldn't take this class if you are not willing to participate in discussion or take, what may seem like simple icebreakers, not seriously. I legitimately made new friends in the class and learned a lot about this school and myself. Also, take a minute and talk with Prof. Bob, you may learn something. Overall, excellent course!
Not your typical class at UVA. It was refreshing and enjoyable. That said, if you participate in Sustained Dialogue or know a lot about social justice issues this class will be pretty repetitive. A lot of the discussions were the same as in Sustained Dialogue except less engaging because a lot of people are just in the class looking for an easy A. Professor Bob is awesome though.
