Great class to take-Coppock is a great lecturer and definitely makes class interesting. First two tests aren't that bad. Information comes directly off his slides so as long as you've been to class there's no excuse to not get at least a B on both of them. Final is a bit more tricky but not impossible as some make it out to be. It just requires a bit more preparation and has more obscure information on it. For example, Coppock will basically spell out what he wants you to know for the first two tests, but he's pretty vague about what is important for the final. He draws on obscure facts/information, but most of that information can still be found in the slides. Sherry Forbes was a decent T.A. We had 4 pop quizzes but they weren't too hard (she is lenient on grading those as well as the tests). Reading is useless if you have previous knowledge of economics, as coppock takes all questions from lecture.

Midterms are extremely hard if you don't pay attention in class and/or study.

Coppock is an amazing professor, he genuinely cares about econ and it clearly shows in his lectures. You will learn a lot more in Coppocks class compared to taking with a TA, but its more difficult. DO NOT rely on the dutch knockout it its do-able but it is very tough. The final is a lot tougher than the exams.

Not a terribly hard class. Go to lecture and pay attention and you'll do fine.

Coppock is an amazing lecturer and knows the material really well, but it is really hard to learn the material and do well in a class of this size if you've never taken Econ before. Only take this class if you have to. As amazing as Coppock was, it was not easy to do well in. You either get it or you don't.

Kind of a weird class. Some of the exam questions were pretty ridiculous (weird calculations, lots of long division, etc.)

Class was pretty easy, but you have to be ready for anything on the exams

Hardly any homework. Lecture slides are provided, which makes midterm studying easier. Mr. Coppock puts time and thought into his lectures, which are very easy to understand. Tests are harder, require a good amount of studying.

Coppock is definitely underrated. He is a great professor and I feel that I learned far more from him than I have from other professors at UVa

Coppock is a little cocky, but he knows his stuff. Pretty easy to get a B in, study for an A
