Wilkie is fun to listen to in lecture, but he doesn't always do a great job at covering material (i.e. he gets off on tangents easily). However, that being said, he is a great guy and very approachable. Watch out for the 2nd exam and the final. Make sure to do the practice problems and ask questions!
Wilkie is a pretty good teacher, but sometimes he flies through lectures. Make sure you really understand everything before tests, and talk to him if you don't understand something. Watch out for tricky wording on tests, and watch the clock. If you don't get the subject easily, this class can be frustrating, but it can be valuable for the real world and it's a pre-req for Comm school.
This class is a requirement for the Comm School, so I'm guessing you're probably going to have to take it - and you could do worse than taking it with Prof. Wilke. I didn't really like him (or the class) but I had to take it because I'm applying to the Comm School, although I will say that you should DO A LOT OF PRACTICE PROBLEMS. Seriously - you will fail the class unless you do a TON of practice problems from the book. Pay attention in class - and ignore the tons of sports metaphors that he throws in there, they get REALLY annoying after a while - and DO THE PROBLEMS. Please. Otherwise, you WILL fail. Good luck! :)
Wilkie isn't bad at teaching. But its really up to you to study on your own and use the book and online homework to learn it. The material wasn't as interesting for me as Comm 201, but it may be more common sensical and easier for some. Second test was difficult. Test questions are ones you've seen before. From book or online. Not tricky. He must have changed them from prior years. Pretty funny guy, not a tool like some thought below.
I really believe that accounting is hit or miss for people. Some of us can look at a problem and get through most of it without reading the chapter, and others can put in hours and hours and still find things difficult. Fortunately accounting is something that clicks for me, and because of this I found class to be annoying sometimes, however Wilkie is a funny guy (especially to watch) and does his best to make accounting fun. I found it somewhat annoying because basically every class was putting book problems up and going through them; this is very helpful if you're having trouble, but just dull if you've had no trouble on the homework. Again accounting is hit or miss for people so it is hard for me to give a recommendation, but if you get through 201 fine, 202 should be no problem.
