If you are interested in Analytical Chemistry the class is a waster of time. You learn and hear the name of different techniques but because the techniques are presented by students who have never used them you can glean about the same depth of information from the Wikipedia article. I learned more taking Dr Venton's 2821 lab than I did with Allen.
It is a boring class to show up to 3 times a week because Allen will not let you screw around on the computer or do anything but listen to the presentations.
With that said the class is an easy A and I still point it out to my friends who are majors because most of can use a GPA boost.
You should take this class just to see the nature of pre-med students and Allen at work. It's quite entertaining and sometimes you do learn a thing or two about Analytical Chem. But it's mostly just pre-med students attempting to one-up each other and Allen patrolling the class to make sure no one is checking their email. However, Allen is quite knowledgeable and when you talk to him one-on-one, he is very friendly. But very easy class overall.
