CHEM 5710

Allen is a dick. People take his class because it is easy, but when people start dozing off, Allen gets angry and starts giving pop quizzes. Which is annoying because nobody knows what's going on.

Attend Class

Very easy...just go to class, make sure you "click-in" your attendance since that counts practically as the majority of your grade, and do a decent job on your 2 total group projects/presentations. Doing all that, there is no reason not to get an A. Never walk in late (like 10/15 minutes late) since he WILL call you out very awkwardly and don't surf the net while in class with your laptop since he'll come and look at your screen from behind you and then call you out, again, awkwardly. Overall, easy class and I highly recommend it to all Chem majors.

Allen knows that people take his class for an easy A, and he tells you that from the beginning. The "official" grade breakdown from the syllabus says: Group Presentations 40%, Final Exam 20%, Group Project 30%, Participation 10%. However, what this class really boils down to is whether or not you show up to class and get the (extremely easy) clicker questions right and complete the two group presentations he assigns. He likes to call out people who are playing on their laptops or just not paying attention, particularly the Asians. He repeatedly pointed out how many "Kim's" our class had and once asked all of the "Nugyens" to stay back after class because he thought they were bringing each other's clickers to class. So like the guy below me said, he's a dick, and slightly racist at best. Nobody knows what is going on in class so the thing I took away from this past semester was how to act like I'm paying attention for 50 minutes. As long as you do that and don't get on his bad side, you'll get an A. Enjoy.

Easy easy easy. Even enjoyable and interesting at times. Don't doze off or go on your phones during class and COME to class. There are clickers everyday for attendance. Extra credit papers at the end to make up for missed class. No tests just some group presentations and a group paper.

Take the class

Easy class. But I mean, you do learn some interesting stuff. Just don't bring your laptop or dawdle in class...you will get called out.

Grade is based off clicker questions and attendance. Show up, get the clickers right, and youll get an A
