I loved this class!! Dr. Gaines is super chill and nice. The format of the class I took (Racial Passing in Literature) was cool. We started with a song and discussed it, then moved on to our topic or book of the day. This class was a lot of reading (5 books, one being over 400 pages), but it didn't feel like it. The class grading was pretty simple: a 15% midterm (I got a 97), a 20% final(I got a 98), and other classwork, but nothing was too serious. We had 6 2-page papers for each book we did, covering what we understood about the course title (you only have to do 4/6). We also had three discussion boards on movies and in-class writing from time to time. Overall, a super easy class with a great professor. I know she isn't re-teaching this specific topic, but I'd assume a general syllabus format like this.
