SOC 2410
Sociology of Sport
Course Description
Sport is a legitimate area of sociological interest for many reasons. Sport is a socially created institution where issues that are of importance to sociologists play out. These include how sport as an institution influences social cohesion and integration, promotes the reproduction of social stratification, provides a space for social interaction, is related to the wider dominant culture, and socializes young people through institutional practices.
