New Add to Schedule

Course Description

Discipline(s): Cultures & Societies of the World / Artistic, Interpretive, & Philosophical Inquiry

This course introduces the art forms, trade objects, & religions that flourished along the historical Silk Road. Stretching 8000km, the Silk Road is a network of trade routes that provided a bridge between the east & west between the 1st & 14th centuries CE. The Silk Road flourished as a commercial & at times military highway. But more than that, it was a channel for the transmission of ideas, technologies, & artistic styles, with far-reaching impact beyond China & theĀ Mediterranean world.
