The TA, Carly Zhu, single handed might be the worst teacher at the university. No matter how hard you work or study, your grade is based solely on her. Dorothy Wong also has no clue what is going on and her transparency is non-existent. The entire year you will think everything is going great, but then when crunch time comes during finals season it's just over for you. No one knew what grading scale she was using until we left school, and we got an announcement stating that she doesn't round and that an A is exactly a 95 or above. Dorothy Wong gets paid $122,000 a year, and the only actual work she did during this course was reading off of some repackaged PowerPoint that looked like it was made in 2010. Don't even get me started on Carly Zhu. This is a gen ed for most students. When she asked at the beginning how many of us were art students, 2 hands were raised. Carly Zhu graded papers, quizzes, and the final project like we were art students of Leonardo Da Vinci, with the wording of Socrates. No feedback on what you did wrong, and when you personally ask her for feedback it makes zero sense. The only people that succeed on paper are those that befriend Carly and don’t disagree with her opinions. If you ever disagree with her or offer an opinion that she doesn't like, it's over for you. Also, just skip the last 2 weeks of class. I went and the whole class had a lecture on why China is better than the US and how it is the greatest country on the planet. Nothing negative about China, just how they run the world and how the CCP is the smartest government of all time. Also, good luck on getting full points on attendance even if you don't miss a class. The attendance and participation are Carly Zhu's way of deflating the grades of those she doesn't like and blaming it on lack of participation no matter how much you speak or show up. Honestly, I don't know how Dorothy Wong lasted so long as a professor and I am hoping she retires soon, and I am scared for anyone that receives Carly Zhu as a professor or TA in the future. Carly Zhu belongs nowhere near a collegiate classroom. If you decide to take this course, good luck and godspeed.
