Very interesting course in terms of material, but that being said, Kahrl is a pretty dry lecturer -- you won't come out lecture much more informed than you were going in. Readings are pretty informative and very useful in essays, but those, at times, can be dry as well. Essays are only 5 pages each, weekly discussion posts aren't too bad, and he hands out the midterm a week before so you can memorize all the ID definitions/what you want to write for the essays. Good class, but not a great class, and not too difficult.
Weekly forum posts, 2 modern news writings, plus 4 papers; no exams, but gotta do the readings to support the papers; was Prof. Kahrl's first semester but he was very nice, knowledgeable, and also offered some extra credit opportunities; main thing is do the readings and try to participate in class so you can get the full understanding before doing the papers
