Holy hell this class was the absolute worst. First of all, anyone who has not taken it, I urge you to consider taking this course online or at your local community college. The level of instruction you will receive there will be light years ahead of anything Ann will attempt to teach you. You have been warned. Reimers is absolutely incapable of lecturing without a sheet of notes that somehow probably also has instructions for how to breathe on it. Often these notes are wrong, but don't you dare try to correct her. She will come up to you after class and 'kindly' request you not talk during her 'lectures'. Rather than correcting her you will have to spend hours and hours outside of class reteaching yourself concepts that were taught so wrong the first time they are unrecognizable. Rinse and repeat for an entire semester. Overall, I'm sure Ann Reimers is smart, otherwise she wouldn't be where she is today, but she is absolutely incompetent and incapable of teaching this class. I would rather purposely break my own femur than suffer through this course again.
Prof. Reimers wasn’t the best. She actually moved things in the schedule around despite giving us completely different dates at the beginning of the semester. Not only did it put pressure on the students but also profs in other classes as well. The lectures were dry and useless. The only reason I went was for the clicker points. I honestly learned more through the textbook than the lectures. The material itself isn’t terribly difficult. Definitely recommend getting a tutor for help in this class.
You will hear a lot that this course is terrible. And to be blunt Prof Reimers isn't a great professor. The schedule changed a lot during the semester- she would change hw and exam dates and not tell us. It was very easy to zone out during her lectures in class as well. That being said, the material isn't impossible and people are there to help you. Its required for us MAE students so just buckle down and don't whine and complain.
Ann Reimers is absolutely the worst professor I've ever had the displeasure of having. I started skipping this class halfway through the semester, and that's when my grades improved. She couldn't teach, constantly made mistakes while lecturing, and assigned upwards of 8 hours of work a week (20-25 work out problems and an online assignment before each class). Do not take dynamics with her. Do not take literally any class with her. She once straight up did not show to class one day, but did not tell us beforehand, and gave the TAs the lecture and expected us to stay and work. A truly awful professor. To quote a wise man, "I didn't wear a seatbelt on the way to school because I wanted to die before making it to [her] class".
