Overall, I had a really good experience in this class and would recommend it. The workload was very manageable, and compared to other econ classes, this one felt pretty low stress. The problem sets make up 10% of the grade and are graded on completion, so those are easy points as long as you submit them. There is also an Excel project worth 15%, but it is very doable and can be finished in a day. The exams were very fair and not overly difficult. The averages were pretty high: 87 on the first exam, 80 on the second before she added 10 points to everyone’s score, and 95 on the third. I did not take the fourth exam, so I’m not sure what the average was for that one. Since the exam averages were so high, it is possible that the exams could become a bit harder in the future, but they were very straightforward this sem. The main thing to be aware of is that grades depend on the class distribution. More than half the class ended with an A- or higher, so getting a good grade is definitely likely. However, the grade cutoffs were quite shocking and a 91 ended up being a B+ for example (95+ = A, 92-95 = A-, 88-91 = B+). Because of that, doing well compared to the rest of the class is very important. Overall though, the class was organized, manageable, and not very stressful, so I would definitely recommend it.
