He was super engaging and very helpful for learning the concepts.

I really enjoyed the way Coppock taught this class. I didn't take micro before but still found in approachable and interesting. Coppock is friendly and funny, and only occasionally comes off as cocky. He seems to genuinely try and succeeds at making the lectures interesting. The material builds naturally and it's simple to see the progression. Especially if you have a good TA (Jeff is great) then it'll be a great experience

I read the textbook every week before lecture (he wrote the textbook), and I was still interested and attentive during class. Professor Coppock is very funny and engaging, and is great at explaining things. He is an amazing professor, and I'm so glad I took this course with him.

I've never taken micro, but I still got an A in the class. Coppock is a great lecturer. He speaks slowly enough for you to easily grasp the material, but is still very entertaining. Definitely take this class with him. Also, you don't have to do the reading before every class but make sure you at least get it done before each test. I would usually do it the weekend before each test so that it would be fresh in my mind.

Good course with a good professor. He can come off as a bit of a jerk at times but he has to have policies to manage a class this big.

One of my favorite classes I've taken at UVa with one of the best lecturers at UVa. No matter what your major is, you should take this class with Coppock. It was practical, straight-forward, and interesting - even the textbook. I thought it was a pretty easy A; all I had to do was read the book (which was very well-written and easy to do to) and studied for a couple hours the night before the tests. Despite it not being that difficult, I learned a ton and enjoyed it thoroughly.

After getting an A in micro I found macro to be much more difficult in terms of content and grading. The grade you get on the first two tests is partially a result of how smart you are, and partially how smart your TAs are. If your TA is a super-specific grader with a high ego complex, you may be screwed. Thankfully the Dutch Knockout is there to help with this issue, but it causes a lot of unnecessary stress that I know me and many of my fellow classmates have experienced.

Real chill class with some practical applicability. Lectures are slow paced and it is hard to stay awake. Most of the clickers are asked at the very last lecture, so only go to that and occasionally to the other lectures. Material is super easy, and actually sort of useful despite it's easiness. I'd recommend only caring about the final since its dutch knockout (b/c even if you don't KO, it will still be worth about 50% of your grade). Overall, satisfied with having taken this class - way better than Elzinga's class - and definitely a class to take if you're looking to take easy classes that you can learn a little bit from. Coppock is also pretty chill and makes his expectations very clear

Read (or re-read) the chapters before the tests. Most of the midterm grading depends on how close your wording is to the textbook's. Most of the people who did poorly on the midterms knew the material, but did not write the buzzwords that Coppock wanted.

I thought Elzinga was overrated but Coppock definitely lives up to the hype. Funny in his own weird way, captivating, approachable, knowledgable, striving to connect class to what is going on in the macroeconomy - Coppock has every trait you want in a intro class professor.

To do well in the class, actually keep up with reading and then reread the entire chapters before the test. I also scanned through the powerpoints but didn't give them much of my time. I think everyone who has been accepted to this school has the intelligence to digest the information and get an A, but people don't do so hot because they don't have the discipline to actually do so.
