One of the worst courses I have taken at UVA. The content attempts to cover astronomy, microbiology, archaeology, physics, and everything in between all in one semester, except all at a sixth-grade level.
The classes are also boring. Lectures consisted of just slides; no engagement, no discussion, and no interaction. There is little structured learning, as even the homework is simply to read chapters from a 500 page textbook.
Finally, the course is rather difficult. Both the midterm and final exams are filled with questions testing your ability to memorize the minutest of details, rather than covering broad themes or topics. Overall, I recommend avoiding this course altogether; while interesting in concept, in reality it is anything but.
