AAS 1020

A whole lot of reading and papers plus a final and a mid term!!

This was a great class and I learned a lot, but it was a lot of work. There was a lot of reading and it was often very dense, but the lectures were really interesting and Professor Harold has some great perspectives. My TA was great and helped me grasp the finer points of the readings. A lot of work though - 2 final papers AND an exam.

A WHOLE lot of reading; so much reading it was ridiculous. Interesting material, though. Prof. Harold is a great lecturer and really knows her stuff, though.

Professor Harold is extremely intelligent and her lectures prove she really enjoys her work. However they can be disorganized sometimes because of how much she enjoys talking about the material. She assigns ridiculous amounts of reading but each one doesn't necessarily need to be read. It helps an insane amount to at least look through them.

This was a great class. Professor Harold is wonderful and extremely approachable. This class is a TON of reading, but very interesting, and not 100% of it needs to be done. Quizzes, exams, and 2 short papers. A must take class.

Professor Harold actually cares about her students. She assigns a lot of reading and may appear to be tough on the surface, but if you go to office hours and talk with her you will see differently. Take this class!

Professor Harold is easily the most passionate professor I've had while at UVA. She assigns a ton of reading, but will be pragmatic if you approach her. Get her in a good mood by talking about Temple Basketball, rap, or any of the buzz words in her class. She's incredible as a professor and really wants all of her students to get an education.

Harold is very knowledgeable but her lectures are a little disorganized. She often turns class into more of a criticism of mainstream culture than a clear outline of information. She admits not to care about the grades of the class as long as people are absorbing the material

Great class, Harold is a great professor and her lectures are amazing not in the least bit boring. There is a lot of reading assignments but it is not necessary to read all of them to receive a good grade
