Seeing the older reviews, I felt inclined to write a review because I had a different experience. Disclaimer, this is not meant to be a flex or show off in any way, I just felt like the old reviews were unfair to Professor Danziger. She is super kind and reasonable (I was able to argue back points on some assignments and exam were also very reasonable)
Nothing in this class was impossible. Every question on the exam was covered somewhere in the lecture slides, written word for word. There were a couple of trick questions obviously to test if you really remembered the content rather than skimming (I fell victim to this a few times lol). That’s why I use the word reasonable to describe this class entirely.
As a STEM major, this was an easy class. My friend and I both ended with an A-, which is very achievable given how little time we put into the class, but an A is possible if you give enough effort. The exams were quite literally just memorized facts from the lectures, Professor Danziger posts all of the lecture slides beforehand and even creates a review slide for each NON-CUMULATIVE exam. She also often spends an entire lecture (75 minutes) talking about ONE MAIN CONCEPT, meaning she repeats the same ideas MULTIPLE TIMES, so there’s not really an excuse to missing obvious core concepts on the exams. The readings were not at all necessary for the exams either, I felt like they only provided more context/overview for the stuff taught in class. I would argue there was only one time where an example from a reading appeared on ALL three exams. I spent a day or two max, reviewing ALL of the relevant lecture slides and reading ALL of the readings (top tier procrastination, i hate reading), before heading into the exam, so I definitely should have spent an extra day studying or actually pay attention to the live lectures.
Granted, I love anthropology, so I was able to retain information easily since I genuinely found the topic interesting. The only reason I didn’t get an A was because I simply didn’t put time into this class while taking stem classes, which isn’t a valid excuse at all so this is my fault entirely. I just felt like the old reviews weren’t reflective of Professor Danziger’s class, at least for the Spring 2026 term.

This is NOT an easy A. While it may seem like a good option for fulfilling a discipline requirement, the exams are intentionally tricky and often more confusing than insightful. The professor emphasizes "application-based" questions, but they often feel unnecessarily difficult. You'll need to dedicate more focus than expected. Would not recommend unless you're genuinely interested in anthropology.
The class is pretty chill. The final is even non-cumulative! She is a great professor, and she has pretty clear slides to help you understand. Highly recommend!
NOT AN EASY INTRO COURSE!!! You will get a A- minus at best if you work hard. Do not take this class if you are trying to fulfill a discipline because it will lower your GPA. Not sure why I even took this class. Maybe if you have a different professor, but the tests were confusing no matter how much you paid attention or did the reading. Class exam averages were high Cs.
