***THIS IS FOR JAMES HUNTER, I PUT IN THE WRONG CLASS***
I got a B in the course and I felt that was fair. It was 2 tests, a data analysis project which was pretty cool, a short paper on Erving Goffman, and a Final. The tests were both 15% and the final was 30%, but he used dutch knockout meaning your final could be worth 60% and the first tests mean nothing. The tests were roughly 20 multiple choice questions, several fill in the blank ID's (almost never got them right because it seemed like 5 words could be used for each but they only accepted 1), CHOOSE 3/5 short answers and 1 essay. The final was basically 2 tests combined and took me about 2 hours. I didn't even purchase a textbook (there was a textbook, online readings, and a goffman book), and never read a single page of anything. It says no phones or laptops but I had my laptop everyday anyway, and nobody said anything to those of us who had them. If you are taking it with friends you could get away with one person going to class each time and getting the notes, but honestly my discussion was so active that I could've skipped everyday and still got the information needed every Friday when I went to discussion (obviously your participation would suffer however). Overall I would recommend taking with him over what i've heard from other professors! Depending on your TA you can swing an A for sure.
