Despina is not a particularly helpful professor. We started the semester before the university started classes to fit her schedule and the second class meeting she was away and sent in a miserable guest professor that made for the single worst lecture in my five semesters at the university. The class used to be much easier but she does not make it so. She over assigns homework and often on subjects that aren't covered until later lectures. Raw averages on the exams are around 50% for the class which means even with 20% you can get a C- on an exam. The worst part of the course is that it hashes over old material that is just as miserable to learn the second or third time around and of the 28 or so lectures, only two actually discussed meaningful applications of the principles introduced in the class. Other minimal discussion of applications dealt only with further applications within the realm of physics. Finally, the course feels highly disorganized and covers far too much material to grasp any of it in a meaningful way.
