It is true that this class isn't a lot of work and isn't very difficult, but I found that I learned a whole lot from Professor Shifflet by the end of the semester. Highly recomended.

So if you go to class all but 5 times, you get an extra 10% added to your final grade. It's pretty easy. If you don't care about the subject, it is an easy A. If you do it is still very interesting and is basically MSE 2090 without any math, you just learn the real world applications.

i love shiflet! he is very funny in a subtle way. the exams are not a piece of cake though. each one gets harder, so if you do well on the first one, don't expect to get the same grade as easily on the next. attendance points help so much! he has a lot of office hours and is very helpful. he is also extremely knowledgeable about the topic and has a lot of good stories to tell. lecturers may be boring at times, but just bear through them to get those attendance points!

Such an easy class! take it if you can! all you have to do is go to class and study the night before each exam. the only grades in the class come from 3 (pretty easy) 100 point exams so 300 points total. then, if you miss less than 4 classes throughout the semester, you get 30 points added onto your final grade at the end! It's cake

Great class. Shiflet is one the most knowledgeable, ardent, and friendly professors I've had or heard of. The class atmosphere is relaxed and friendly but Shiflet commands respect. The class, while easy and not demanding in the least, requires a small bit of study to get an A. A few concepts are tricky but this class is worthwhile. Possibly an easy A but you do need to put in a little work.

Very interesting class. The only assignments are the 3 exams, plus he gives a big bonus for attendance. Shiflet has a strict no laptop, no cellphone policy. However, he is extremely knowledgeable, and emphasizes understanding over memorization. I highly recommend taking this class, even if only for an easy A.
