Shiflet tries to be as fair as possible, and doesn't try to trick you on the exams. There are only 3 tests and extra credit for going to class. You only have to study the night before to do well on the tests if you go to class.

This is by far one of the easier classes you can take if you're an engineer. The layout of the class is: 3 quizzes each worth 100 points, and an attendance bonus of up to 30 points (that's 10%!). You can go to class and not pay attention at all, and study the night before tests and still pull off an A at the end of the semester if you get the attendance bonus. As for the material of the course, it is mildly interesting if you're somewhat into history and materials science. Otherwise, it's kinda boring. Word of caution: don't let Shiflet catch you surfing the web or texting in class; he'll kick you out.

Great teacher, great class, enjoyable, fun, not hard. Professor Shiflet has a kind of dry sense of humor, but he's really funny. His class isn't hard, and you learn a lot. If you go to almost all of his classes, you should do very well.

Tries to tie in the actual applications of the material covered in class, however content can still be pretty dry at times. Gives points for attendance though.

Awesome class. Shiflet is really funny and does a good job of making a potentially boring subject interesting. And with the attendance bonus it's not a hard class.
