This is one of those classes you kind of get stuck in but really isn't that bad. Some of the material is dry but Shaun keeps it lighthearted and interesting and is good at explaining. He isn't the best professor but the TAs are always free to help on lab or homework. You have assignments due every class so prepare for working on stuff 3+ times a week.
The class seems very easy at first with little homework and one group project at the start of the semester. The lab that accompanies it is also easy to do well in. Things go bad around the first test, where the professor seems to grade so that everyone winds up with a B, regardless of their work. Ultimately, through the tests and the final, the professor brings almost everyone into the B- to B+ range. Why? Who knows. The class and the work is easy but the tests are graded arbitrarily so that no one ends up getting out with an A. The professor will also not pay attention to the presentation of projects, instead being on his phone at the back of the classroom, and then assigning a random grade to the group without offering an explanation why after being contacted through email.
Professor expects us to come to office hours. Not all of us have time to go to office hours, especially to an introductory course. This class could be so much more beneficial if the professor gave more resources and was move active about looking out for us. I consider myself an avid learner and this class was not even conducive to me. We do no projects, no groupwork, no demo or tour. Overall, this course could be 10 times better if the professor tried just a bit
