I took this class to have a chill course in a busy semester. And it was- this seminar-style course was pretty fun, and I enjoyed it a lot. I came into this class not knowing much about the Beatles, just their big tunes. I learned a lot about this class thanks to DeVeaux's interesting lectures and hearing my classmates' thoughts. You don't normally have to talk, but there is a participation grade to keep in mind, so talk once per week was my rule, because many didn't speak to begin with.
DeVeaux is a peculiar guy, but he is a nice, he is pretty particular and opinionated, and if he disagrees with you, you better be ready to back it up like crazy.
The midterm and final were pretty much the same: write 3-4 short essays about something Beatles-related (mine was about 10 pages total), and that was fine. We also had a thing called "Critical Karaoke," when you had to give some information about the song that you chose into a microphone that played in the background.
Homework: you just have to write about something you found interesting or a reflection about the song that was assigned for the week (about 150 words total)
