Love Professor Peterson! She is the best. She is really passionate about what she does and what she teaches. Sometimes lectures can be a little bit boring, but regardless, they are usually entertaining and very informative.

Exams are typically very easy, as you are allowed to get a cheat sheet for every exam, and the questions can typically be directly answered from the slides, so as long as you take notes and pay attention in class, this should be an easy A. Homeworks are a bit tedious, but nothing crazy. They can usually be completed in a focused 2 hour time frame, and some content from the homeworks usually appear on the exams.

Overall a great class! Made me more passionate about being sustainably mindful. I would recommend this class to ANYONE who is looking to fulfill their HSS credit for engineers.

The course had a very easy-to-balance workload and interesting material. The professor is very passionate and knowledgeable. I never felt like I was overwhelmed with work, and studying for the exams wasn't too stressful. Overall, I think this class is well-balanced and a productive use of your time.

Overall, very good science and/or technical elective for engineers. Prof. Peterson is a very flexible and understanding teacher, who is deeply passionate about her lectures and her class. She gives extra credit opportunities and 2-tries on canvas quizzes(answers are shown). Notes sheets are allowed on Exams too. There are only 4 homework assignments throughout the whole semester that actually allow you to apply class lecture material/learning. They take maybe 2 hours each and the TA will help give get the right answers. It is very hard to do poorly in this class, even though it is a 95 >= A. Overall, would recommend this class 10/10

For those of you looking for a Science I elective, this is an easy A! Professor Peterson had such a passion for the subjects of the course and the students she teaches. She is pretty knowledgeable in the subject, and if she doesn't know the answer to a question, she will make sure to find out for you.

While I didn't go to her office hours that much, the GTA was very helpful for hw assignments. Both of them are very accommodating with due dates and course opinions (as this course covers some hot political issues).

Now, for the course structure, it's pretty simplistic: lectures and recommended readings, 5 homework assignments, weekly quizzes, and 3 tests (including the final). None of the content is that difficult, but it helps if you're further along in your studies and have finished ODE, CE 2100, and Water for the World. There are also plenty of bonus and regrade opportunities in the class.

If your looking to dip your toes in sustainability and environmental concern, or if you just want an easy Science class with an awesome professor, then seriously consider this course
