Amazing class. Laurent loves soccer and it's clear. Class was mostly just group and class discussion about the reading and topics that came up in class. If you get a bad random group discussions can suck but it's not difficulty.
Readings tended to be long and dense, but you usually don't need to read through everything. You can get by with only 20-30 minutes of actually reading, as long as you get the main gist of the reading.
The first writing assignment was just a short piece on an experience you had with soccer, and if you made an effort on it, you can get an A. 25% of your final grade is a ~4000 word essay about whatever soccer tournament the class focuses on. It's fairly easy grading wise but requires effort to complete. The other 25% of your final grade is working with a group of 4-5 people to build out your final essays into a webpage on his blog. If you had a good essay to start with, this is very easy.
Overall, the class is great and very rewarding if you like soccer or are just casually interested. Be prepared to participate and you'll be fine.
