Professor Grammer is genuinely the best professor I have had thus far at UVa, and this was her first semester here so that should say something about her experience and character. She in incredibly intelligent in the field of educational neuroscience and so understanding of students that need extra time for an assignment or cannot make class. I took this class to fulfill a neuroscience requirement for the cognitive science major and I am so glad I did. She made lectures so interesting and really grabbed our attention, even when the content was more research-heavy. The grade was broken up into 20% assignments on the readings, 20% working in teams/groups, 20% team presentation, and a 40% final paper of about 2000 words. For every class day there was one or two readings assigned that can be quite lengthy, but I found just a quick skim to be sufficient to understand the content. In a partial covid semester, she was so understanding and helpful and gave a zoom option to those who didnt feel comfortable attending. I 100% recommend taking a class with Grammer, she gives tons of feedback on essays/presentatiions and if you show her youre putting in effort you will get a good grade.
