Filler class. Don't take if you want to be taught anything because everything is self-learning. Lectures and all theory and assignments are unrelated coding that you teach yourself through online tutorials. The lab is a messy safety hazard and a collection of unused junk, so I'm not sure why they're making student go all the way to OMERF for this class that could be done in a smaller space.
Robotic Autonomy with Professor Furukawa was one of the most frustrating and poorly taught classes I have taken. The course was overly mathematical without any clear explanation or connection to practical applications. He gave no direction, and the majority of the project was dumped on us in the final two weeks. His grading system is completely inconsistent. The rubrics do not reflect what he actually wants, and he only mentions his expectations after assignments are submitted. He has unrealistic demands, especially around report writing, which he claims engineering students must master, even though I am not in engineering. The class environment was unwelcoming and confusing. Almost no one understood the math, and there was no effort to support students struggling with the material. The lectures were disorganized, and the workload was unreasonable. This course felt like it was designed to frustrate rather than educate. I would strongly recommend avoiding it.
