This course was great!!! Professor Sterling is incredibly knowledgeable about this topic and the way she teaches is awesome.
Most days for this course the only homework was about 4 readings beforehand to discuss in class. I will admit that these readings tended to be incredibly long, but I found that as long as you thoroughly read about 2 of the four and skim all of them you should be fine for the discussions. She does reading reflections every couple weeks which were incredibly easy, and then she has us do about 2 short papers before the longer 7-9 page paper at the end. However, the content of the shorter papers is the same as that on your final paper, so I found I could just consolidate my shorter papers to form a draft for my final paper. The way she grades is very forgiving as she will replace any low grade from earlier in the semester with your final paper score so as long as you produce a good paper at the end of the semester you will most likely receive an A in the class.
Professor Sterling was very nice and I found the readings and movies she picked out for us to analyze to be incredibly interesting and eye opening. I would definitely recommend Professor Sterling's course if you are a history major looking to complete the workshop requirement!!
