You will learn so much if you take this class. Professor Bishara offers a unique curriculum for the economic history of the Islamic world, something you can't just learn on your own. Work wise there were a good amount of readings, and they are extremely relevant to the lecture and you must read to do well in the class (although he does go over them in class). We had quizzes but not to difficult, a short midterm paper, and a final paper. There are also a weekly required prompts (more like a couple sentences asking any questions you have about the reading), and participation and attendance plays a big role in the class. You will get a good grade as long as you do the readings and participate in class, highly recommend for anyone who is interested in the subject.

Professor B is awesome. Class is great, not made to be unnecessarily difficult like most of UVA and you learn a ton.
