OH MY GOODNESS. THIS CLASS WAS SOOOO GOOD.

If you have the opportunity to take this class, absolutely do it. It is not offered every semester, or even every year, so if you see it open - TAKE THE OPPORUNITY!

This class is pretty easy, and really really interesting. You spend the first half of the semester learning the basics of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and the second half of the semester talking about violent events in history justified or caused by religions. There are two large papers, but as long as you pay attention, read the readings, and listen to Shuve's advice, you'll do great. Shuve is a great guy and this is a class I think everyone should take, regardless of your background or major (im bio and this class was one of the best ive ever taken at uva). It's super enjoyable, conversation driven, though provoking, and pretty easy as long as you show up!

I highly recommend this class if you are able to take it. There are module readings that you have discussion on in class and your write 4 1,000 word papers. Super interesting topics and Prof Shuve was really nice. The TA in the class was also really nice and they both responded to emails relatively soon.
