This class was great! I took it on a whim and went in without any recommended pre reqs, but I did fine and I learned so much. Professor Katz is such a good instructor, and she cares a lot about her students. This class let me consider issues and viewpoints I hadn't been exposed to before, and the information felt like something I could really take away and apply in my life. There were weekly response questions to make sure you kept up with the reading, and other small assignments, but the biggest components of your grade are the group project, which is ongoing throughout the whole semester but really is quite manageable, and then a midterm and a final, both of which are more about applying the concepts that you learn to a specific innovation. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is thinking about going into policy or working with children, even if you aren't Curry/YSI.
This class was very interesting! I enjoyed the topic and looking at different innovations, as well as listening to many guest speakers! Workload is compiled of weekly Reading response questions, weekly questions for our guest speakers, and a multiple step group project through the semester for the most part. Grading is not the quickest but overall the class is good! #tCFspring2021
