This is my favorite course I've ever taken! Professor Martin provides us with real world cases that are very cohesive and relevant to the topics we're learning. This course made me want to be an entrepreneurship minor, despite not having any entrepreneurship background. I cannot emphasize enough how much of an amazing and empathetic educator Eric is. He truly has so much experience that I have really taken to heart. Not only that, he genuinely cares about his students and where they go in life. He really appreciates if you participate in class, and he doesn't make you feel bad if your answers aren't 100% correct. His entire class is based on the fact that you should "redefine failure as learning." As far as the work, the projects are pretty easy if you try and there are two weekly one page papers that go along with readings/cases. If you can't read the entire paper, you're fine-the papers are usually very general concepts.
TL:DR
Take this class! It's for anyone who can put in a few hours of work, and has given me the most soft and hard skills of any classes I've taken. #tCFS24
Wouldn't really recommend this class. We're more than halfway through this semester and still have 0 grades back. Most of the stuff is just "completion" (I.e. you have to write reflection papers before class every so often), but there was no real way to submit these assignments other than just emailing them, Canvas wasn't (and still isn') really 100% set up. The professor changes items on the syllabus sometimes a few days before they're due, with no warning other than an email. Seems like a poorly run class, and there's really not much you can take notes on during class when he talks, usually he's just talking about different stuff that doesn't really relate to your project.
Our project is to use AI to create some new business idea for the travel insurance company Allianz. However, you don't really have to use AI at all. You just have to create some "prototype" and get feedback on it, without actually creating anything of substance.
Is the class easy? Yes. I never felt like I was getting behind and I never did readings unless I needed to write a paper. I'm assuming everyone will just get some version of an A or a B. But overall, just felt like a waste of time. I'd normally just sit on my computer and do other work during class.
Warning: Not the easy A I thought it would be. This class is not a lot of work and you learn interesting concepts about entrepreneurship. Make sure to participate though and do the extra credit!!! I was mislead by the high GPA of Professor Martin's previous sections. He shafted us all Fall 2019 and said he gave out very few As. The most interesting parts of class are when the professors brings in guest speakers who are successful entrepreneurs or Fortune 500 executives. He has reading quizzes so make sure you do the readings for those chapters and a group presentation at the end of the course, but other than that this class isn't very much work at all.
