If you want an "easy A" writing course, do not take it with him. He grades so strictly without any good feedback, and we usually do more book discussions than writing workshops. Also, his expectations are unclear on the activities/essays planned, which people usually have to clarify multiple times. The reading can range from 50-80 pages every other day. I honestly wished he had done more writing workshops than book discussions.

His grading rubric:
First paper, 3 pages (11%), second and third paper, 5-6 pages each (22% each); midterm quiz (10%), final (15%); participation, which includes short responses, leading discussion, and blog posting (20%)
