Three essays and an essay final comprise your grade. We read a number of modern plays and we discussed them every class. Be prepared to contribute as Professor Olwell takes note of who is in attendance and who speaks. Each essay had a prompt and was based on the last three or four plays that were read. We had a couple of classes on proper essay writing which was helpful during the drafting process. We did not do much beyond that. It was a very straightforward introduction to the English major and one of the ways to fulfill the Second Writing Requirement.
