I took Ancient Magic with Dr. Chance Bonar. Dr. Bonar is an incredible professor. I would be down to take any class that he teaches. He is really engaging and amiable. You actually feel comfortable to raise your hand and participate even if you don't exactly know the answer to a question. As for the course itself, it can be a little repetitive in some places, but overall I found it very interesting as a premed. They talk about curses, amulets, ancient healing practices, auguries, and religion. Definitely one of the better engagement classes out there. There are readings every class that do take around an hour to do, and some small reflections occasionally on the activities we do in class, but its a very chill class in terms of grading.

Rebecca has to be one of the nicest teachers I have encountered so far at UVA. She is very accommodating and completely understands if work is submitted late. In class, there are basic discussions that, with less than 30 minutes of reading, can be easy to engage in. Overall, she has a great personality and likes to teach her students. I would totally recommend taking this class with her.
I love Professor Reid! Honestly one of the kindest, sweetest professors here. You can talk to him about anything, he’s so chill and makes class super fun!
His lectures and activities are always beginner friendly, even if you don’t know much about archeology. He doesn’t overwhelm you with readings or dense lectures, he keeps things short but informative while also enjoyable! I cannot recommend his EGMT class enough.
