Best class I have taken at UVA, take it if you get the chance to. Short weekly readings that you post questions about before each class session, after each class you complete a 3 page handwritten reflection (These seemed like they would be a lot to me at first, but it becomes really easy). If you miss a class session you can still do a 3 page reflection answering questions other people posted and get full credit.

Each class is spent talking about a few questions that he picks from the discussion board. This discussion goes on for an hour and then the last 15 minutes of class he gives everyone time to work on the 3 page reflection. The course content was super interesting and I looked forward to each class.

(There are no exams or quizzes, your grade is based entirely off of the discussion board questions, reflections, and participation)

Hands down easiest class I've taken at UVA. Seriously if you need an easy A or want to knock out an upper level psych elective take this fr. The course has no exams and no final. Just weekly discussion posts and reflections that generally take less than an hour to do based off of really quick and comprehensive readings created by Professor Coan himself. The readings are actually very interesting and include his little drawings. Overall this class is very unique in that you learn in a non traditional manner where you're not constantly bludgeoned over the head with large texts and constant memorization/regurgitation. Instead its all discussion based and you learn a lot of interesting things about social relationships that you are bound to remember way better than you learn in other classes (definitely social psych or like chem). 100% recommend if either interested or just looking for that A. #tCFfall22
