Tim is an amazing human being and a great professor. He is beyond kind and very generous with grading policies. DO NOT take this class if you aren't going to show up for lectures, though. I have learned so much about counseling as a profession, and I am leaving this class with confidence in my ability and choice to pursue counseling as a career. I wasn't sure if I had what it takes before, but this class gave me a clear idea of what counselors (especially clinical mental health counselors) actually do and how they help clients.
Lectures are very interactive, with both small group and large group discussions occurring weekly. There are weekly required reflections based on what was covered in the corresponding lecture; there are two to three quizzes across the semester, three personal/unit reflections, and a cumulative final project based on what counseling specialty interests you.
