This course was not easy but also not hard. Professor Carter teaches you a lot about how to write a college essay which is very useful in the long run. He is sort of strict on grading the essays in the beginning to help us learn on how to write a college essay which I totally get. His office hours are helpful if you do have specific questions about your essay that you are concerned about. Do not expect him to read your essay and tell you what to do because he will not be able to do that in office hours. He provided homework which were normally completion grade but you do have to put in some work to get them done. I also did like how he would engage with the students and interacted with them because it helped us all talked more. He also made the class fun by taking us to the Franlin Museum and contemplative commons to get some ideas for our essays. Professor Carter is also a very passionate and funny person as well. I do recommend taking this course for first-year writing.
