One of my favorite courses taken during my first year across both the fall and spring semesters. The class is very easy but engaging and enjoyable. The subject of dreams is extremely fun to examine and write about, both the mechanics behind dreaming and the more subjective and creative elements that go into dreams. Readings are given basically every class day but I have never taken me more than 15-20 minutes to do them, save for the very rare reading that MIGHT take a little longer but probably never over 45 minutes. Even with the longer readings, Professor Kim will give you so much time to do them and you won't need most of it. Sometimes you'll be tasked with watching a movie or TV show episode and they were always captivating to some extent. There's occasional writing practices in class that may stem from the readings or digital media watched and they're pretty short. The essays were probably my favorite part of the class and call for both imagination and critical thinking - I found them to increase my enjoyment for writing even outside of the class or academic setting. Professor Kim is also very kind and a great teacher - you can tell she has a passion for writing and dreams and truly looks forward to seeing what others have to say in their work. The class discussions were never dull and and it was so nice to just bounce thoughts and interpretations off each other, it's very introspective and the feedback you'll get from both Professor Kim and your peers tends to be informative and encouraging. You'll read a lot of great excerpts and papers that you'll actually want to draw inspo from in your own writing. Overall, 1000% recommend this course!
