Jim was a great professor. Super friendly and approachable. The content wasn't super difficult, since I took AP Calc AB my senior year of high school, but the math department at UVA teaches calculus differently than AP, which was my biggest struggle. I hated the growth-based assessments; they were tedious and took up too much time. Classes were mostly group work. Homework was a little tedious.
If you did Calc in high school and did alright, but need a little extra help, take MATH 1190. If you did calculus in high school, did well, and are generally good at math, take MATH 1210. The exams between the two classes are the same; MATH 1190 just gets a little more help and adds a discussion section.
