Course Description

This seminar attempts to expand the horizons of bioethics to include a set of important issues impacting global health. The focus is on current work in political phil bearing on the rationale and limits of political toleration; assistance to the 'distant needy'; nationalism vs. cosmopolitanism; the objectives and measures of human development;and the proposed role of human rights as a transcultural lingua franca for international ethics.
