Genome Sciences: The DNA Revolution in Science and Society

Course Description

Pre-Requisite(s): BIOL 3010 and BIOL 3020

This course will chronicle the meteoric rise in our ability to collect DNA sequence data & reconstruct genomes, and how this contributes to understanding evolution & the genetic basis of traits, including disease. Discussions with leading experts in science, policy or law will allow students to consider the promises & limitations of genomic research, as well as the future societal impact of having nearly ubiquitous genetic information.
