MUSI 4520

Critical Studies of Music with Fred Maus is in my top 5 list for classes at UVA. It is very low commitment (he doesn't like forcing people to participate), but it is so enjoyable that you will feel like attending and being a part of the class. For the first 3rd of the semester, we basically meditated and listened to music, and in the other parts we talked about stuff like improvisation. there are three short papers total, and there is a email about the reading due every class for homework. Summary: class is fun and worthwhile. If you are looking for a good filler class where you actually learn useful things and don't have to do much homework, this should be an option.
