APMA 3100

Mavi was hands-down the worst professor I've had at UVA. I didn't learn a single thing in his class, and relied on the homework to understand the material (which wasn't all that successful). Regardless, he was such a bad professor that the class had to be curved up more than 10 points to be on par with the other professors' class averages- Every person I talked to received an A in the class

Do yourself a favor & never takes any classes with Mavi. Personally speaking, he's a great guy. Very approachable outside of class, though a bit shy. Some of my friends believe he's super smart in research, but apparently not in lecture. He assumes that you know everything and just randomly throws you some axioms on board. Hard to read his handwriting. Later he changed to "lecture+discussion" style, which made situation worse. Basically he "lectured" for ~10 mins and let you do hard blackboard problems for the rest 40 mins. I literally learned nothing in his class, and I had to force myself to get up early so that I could attend Prof. Fulgham's session. Have to say that Prof. Fulgham is a lifesaver compared to Mavi. Seriously. If you don't want to ruin your GPA, please avoid him at all costs.
