I took this class the first semester of my first year without having taken ECON 3010. It is very doable. It was difficult in the beginning since most of the class has done intermediate micro before and despite it not being a prerequisite for the class it definitely would make it easier to understand the material. But Olsen gives a lot of material to students who might need extra help understanding. Its a lot of reading but in all honesty the reading is mainly just to tie the theory and concept to real world events so even if you skip out on it a few times it's not the end of the world. The midterms and problem sets are really straight forward if you do the work. And you can compensate for any setbacks since he ditches the mid term if you do well on the final. Also he's a really great professor, always stays back a bit after class to answer doubts, you can walk into his office, etc. He's also really understanding about group projects if collaborative work isn't going too well. The class itself is also interesting if you're looking at policy aspect of economics. It is however a little fast paced. I know he's retiring soon so thats a bummer but otherwise would recommend this class.
