This class is incredible. Definitely better than Cinema as an Art Form in the sense that you actually get to discuss things with Korte, form a relationship with him, and get graded by him instead of pesky TAs. The films are also great - a spectrum from new wave to altman's nashville.

Korte really knows his stuff. You have to love film to take this class, and most students in the class do, so it can be a really great experience. Most classes are spent discussing the films, with Korte doing most of the talking and students scrambling to take notes. Everyone has to present on one film over the course of the semester, but other than that it's just a lot of reading. Midterm and final are most of your grade, and these are in essay format so if you know your stuff, you'll be ok. A lot of the films are confusing- like I said, only take this class if you're a huge film buff or minoring in film.
