The class isn't hard to do well. As long as you participate in the discussion and turn in homework on time, you'll do well. There are a midterm paper and a final project that's each worth a quarter of your grade. You also need to present on reading to facilitate discussion which isn't hard. However, the grading for this class is similar to those in politics class where an A- is relatively easy but A is hard. Therefore, you'd need to get an A on everything to get an A. If you get an A- on one thing, you're automatically getting an A- for the semester even when everything else is an A. She grades each assignment with the minimum percent for each letter grade. Therefore, it's a relatively easy A- class but hard A class and even harder for A+. A+ means you'd have to get only 100% on everything. You do read interesting literature that helps foster quality discussions. The class also has topics each week, therefore, you're diving into a different aspect of Chinese literature every week. It's definitely a worthwhile class when you aren't considering it as a class where the professor doesn't like to give As to students.
