curran is goofy and tries really hard to make this stuff interesting. if youre CE, you have to take the class no matter what. shes a great person, not the best teacher... definitely used the book a lot to do the homework problems. it was a lot of work but i like fluid stuff so it wasn't so bad conceptually for me. be sure to check/double check test grades because she/the TAs are prone to make mistakes and shes very lenient with giving points back!!!
This course is now an elective, which it should be. Curran is still Curran (goofy, can ramble), but she is much better with a smaller group of students who want to take the class rather than 50+ students who are in the class because it is required. Homework is manageable, and tests are not bad at all. Instead of a final, we had a group project and presentation which seems to be the norm with higher level civil classes.
This class was much better now that it is an elective. The only people taking it are the ones who want to be taking it. There is a good deal of homework, but it is not overwhelming. The tests were pretty easy and if you do the homework, you will have no problem at all. Water Resources culminates in a semester project and presentation rather than a final exam and the project took very little time compared to the ones in other civil classes.
