Review on Handler: He is kinda crazy, but FANTASTIC at engaging his students because of it. He has very specific, leftist views... so staunch Republicans might want to steer clear. That being said, it is really refreshing to hear someone who specifically contradicts commonly-held beliefs or typical professors' views. Definitely take this class (Culture, Gender, Violence) if you want to be so engaged in the material that you actually talk about it with friends/students who are not in his class! Grading can be pretty harsh depending on the TA, but the class isn't a lot of work whatsoever - and when there is a fair amount of work, it is pretty interesting. Overall, I'd recommend the class to anyone remotely interested in trying their hand at anthropology.
Review on Michael Wenzel: TAKE HIS DISCUSSION. Michael is the best TA there ever was and ever will be... He brings his dog to class, talks openly (just like Handler) but relates to his students much better, and makes you want to go to class. He is hilarious and an incredible person, so take any class with him if you can! Again, hands down the best TA I've ever had.
