Never have I taken a class where the professor cares more about their students' wellbeing, progress, and participation than with Allison. Although our class was dry at times while reading hard to comprehend texts about indigenous cultures, Allison never failed to excite the class with interesting conversations and allowing for different backgrounds and thoughts to be shared. Even though this semester took an interesting turn with the pandemic occurring, Allison made use of Zoom's accessibility and was more than grateful to extend her time to help complete our final projects on time. The class allowed me to think about a topic I had never really known much about before and create modern parallelisms, controversies, and theories. Take a class with Allison - although a tough grader than most Spanish teachers she really wants you to succeed, grow, and develop your own thought process!!
I took the class on colonialism and interpretation which was great! Allison is a new professor but is wonderful. She is very nice, very willing to help during office hours, and genuinely cares about the subject and her students. The class is very easy, and I learned a lot too. The texts are from the colonial period and can be difficult/boring, but I would recommend the class and anything else that Allison will go on to teach!
